Not much here, the PPP firewalling howto is a bit dated. These days, I'm running a local nameserver instead of relying on upstream name servers or trusting the nameserver list given to me by PPP. The howto is still there for reference, though.

The MiniPPP.txt file contains a really old manual PPP setup howto I wrote when the (then current) PPP-HOWTO in the Linux Documentation Product was too wordy, verbose, and complex for something that should be really simple.

These days, I recommend people just use wvdial to set everything up, then modify the generated files by hand to suit. If you have a need to set up PPP networking for dial-up manually, though, by all means, look at the MiniPPP.txt file.

Enjoy!

  • MiniPPP.txt covers manual PPP setup. Right-click and select "Save As" for a local copy.
  • PPP Firewalling Howto. Rather dated, but hey... it's a good starting point for local customizations.
